Putting my Thankfulness into Action.

Today I am thankful for people. . . many people.

~I am thankful for the billing specialists in the hospitals and doctors offices who work to get the insurances to pay the medical bills. I happen to know that it takes a lot more than just sending a bill to the insurance company to get them to pay. These people spend time doing tedious work, and sometimes HOURS calling the insurance companies fighting, yes FIGHTING, to get them to pay what they should. I have personal experience with this because my MIL is a medical billing specialist, and I also had some wonderful billing people at Rochester fighting to get my medical bills covered from my transplant and after-care. They did a great job, and I really really appreciate all their hard work!

~I'm thankful for the people who teach my children. I'm thankful for their patience and hard work. I know that working with children is an exhausting job, and not always so fun. But their teachers do it well AND with a smile on their faces! I so appreciate that!

~I'm not just thankful for their teachers, but I'm also thankful for all the support staff at the school who do so much of the behind the scenes work to keep the schools running smoothly and allow the teachers to do what they need to do with the children. I know they don't get thanked very often. They are behind the scenes and we all tend to forget about them (at least I do). Well, today I'm not forgetting. I'm putting my thankfulness into action. I've baked a batch of super yummy homemade brownies that I'm going to drop off with a nice thank you note to the office girls at Kyle's preschool when I pick him up today. I do believe that everyone has a need to be, not just told, but shown that they are appreciated. So that is what I'm going to do!

This is my encouragement to everyone today. . . Don't just tell someone you are thankful for them, SHOW them!

I enjoyed your post, and you gave me things to think about. I never considered being thankful for the billing person at the doctor's office or hospital ...

I also like what you said about appreciation: "I do believe that everyone has a need to be, not just told, but shown that they are appreciated. So that is what I'm going to do!" So true!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I love visiting all the TT posts because everyone looks at things differently. I'm always getting challenged!

This was a great post with much food for thought. You are soo right...I don't think about soo many people there are behind the scenes who are never noticed or appreciated. I also like the idea of SHOWING appriciation and think your plan of brownies is a great one. I am going to look for ways to show mine too. It's funny you should say this. I spent the morning working in my grandsons KG class as a volunteer. I was actually pretty whipped by the time I was finished. Lots of busy work. It actually occurred to me on the way home, I wonder how many of those parents care that I gave up my morning to work with their kids?? I went on from there and thought of course I am doing this first for my own grandson, and second for the Lord. If no one ever notices or cares, it is OK. But maybe I was wrong. People do notice. Thanks for writing this. Blessings to you, Debbie

I love reading posts that inspire me to do better. Appreciation in action I like that concept. Thanks for sharing.

This was such a good message...although words of appreciation are needed, actions speak louder than words, as the saying goes...I will try harder at doing this....
